Building Stronger Accountability

This action research examined current practices andorganizational structures in obtaining data inrelation to performance measurement and managementwithin the Victim Services sector in BritishColumbia. Research in the area of performancemeasures and management is somewhat sporadic withlimited research in the area of measures within theVictim Services sector. The literature reviewexplored topics such as: organizational cultureperformance management and strategic planningbecause they all impact the implementation of suchmeasures. The research participants were theemployees from 150 programs of the Victim Servicessector in British Columbia who shared theirexperiences through focus groups interviews andsurveys. The findings provided suggestions andrecommendations for best practices in incorporatingperformance measures and program evaluation tools inthe Victim Services sector.
