Bullets and Bolos is the memoir of Colonel John White's 15 years in the Philippines as a member of the Philippine Constabulary during the American occupation of the islands. The Constabulary established in 1901 was organized to quell unrest on the islands. White took part in numerous engagements against the rebellious Moros on Mindanao and Jolo including the infamous First Battle of Bud Dajo (also known as the Bud Dajo Massacre in which 800-1000 men women and children were killed).
