English

About The Book

Burnout is a three-dimensional syndrome resulting from the exercise of a professional activity. Nurses in particular are considered a group susceptible to developing this syndrome. The presence of burnout is a significant concern in the health sector as it can have a negative impact on the quality of care provided to users. Health professionals particularly emergency room nurses regularly have to manage stressful situations which can result in a decrease in performance responsiveness and a compromise in the quality of care provided. This study aims to: a) Characterize the sociodemographic and professional profile of the sample; b) Identify the level of burnout perceived by nurses in the Medical-Surgical Emergency Department in a northern region of Portugal; c) Analyze the level of the different dimensions of burnout in the sample under study; d) Analyze the relationship between the mean scores of the burnout dimensions and the sociodemographic and professional variables.
