Although contemporary of the so-called "Marginal Poetry" of the 1970s, the poet Afonso Henriques Neto differs from it by his imagistic language on the edge of the abyss, marked by an acid look at the dictatorial context that Brazilian youth faced at the time. Afonso Henriques Neto is considered one of the most original authors of the period, by uniting in his poetry a conscious work on surrealism and Brazilian modernism, without ever losing the existential element marked by the counterculture of his generation.
