About the Book: The book has listed 185 butterfly species out of more than 230 species found in the Pithoragarh region of Uttarakhand. The rich biodiversity is being attributed to altitude gradients varying from 590m to 5500m apart from three broad biogeographical sub-regions : Western Himalaya Eastern Himalaya and Tibetan Plateau. The book includes larval host plants as well as their distribution apart from flight period size & scientific names. About the Author: Jagdish Bhatt is an avid cyclist mountaineer and nature photographer who has been exploring the Himalayas in his backyard for over two decades. Being born and brought up in the mountains of Uttarakhand he has a special affinity with the natural world there and its flora and fauna. Bhatt has been documenting butterflies for nearly 12 years and his fascination with them continues.
