In dentistry Dr. Duret was the first person who developed the dental CAD/CAM system in 1980s. This technology became a very popular part of dentistry last 25 years.[1]Computer-Aided Designing systems is the use of computer systems in designing and development of a product. Computer-Aided Machining is used to operate machine tools which allow the shaping of materials to form structures and devices.[2]This system includes automatic fabrication procedures that help to standardize the quality and decrease the time. It has the potential to minimize inaccuracies in conventional techniques and thus reducing the risk of infections with indirect restorations.It is used in both dental laboratories and the dental office for the fabrication of crowns and fixed partial dentures inlays onlays veneers crowns fixed partial dentures implant abutments full mouth restorations and complete dentures enhancing patient’s oral function and thus maintaining their health. It is also used in orthodontics in the form of Invisalign retainers.The term ‘CAD/CAM’ in dental technology is currently used as a synonym for prostheses produced by ‘milling technology’.
