The collection operates on the idea that most human suffering comes not from external chains but from internalized beliefs that freedom is dangerous unrealistic or selfish. We're conditioned from birth to accept limitations as protection to mistake our cages for shelter and to pathologize the natural human desire for expansion and authenticity. The poems argue that what society calls maturity or realism is often just learned helplessness-and that remembering our capacity for flight (metaphorically: living authentically taking risks choosing ourselves) is an act of revolution. The work challenges readers to examine which parts of their lives are chosen versus inherited and whether safety is worth the cost of never truly living.
