CANCER REPORTING IN BRITISH AND AMERICAN VOGUE FROM 1990 TO 2010

About The Book

Cancer is one of the major killer diseases in the world. With deaths resulting from the disease expected to rise to 12 million in 2030 it is important to find out if the public are receiving appropriate information on it. The mass media is one of the most important vehicles in the dissemination of information to the public and specific types of cancer can receive extensive media coverage. This book analyses how information on cancer was disseminated in one women’s magazine over a twenty year period (1990 to 2010). To determine how the disease was covered in the magazine during that period a content analysis was carried out on the US and British editions of Vogue Magazine.
