Candida a classic comedy written in 1894 is set in London's East End during the Victorian era and explores the domestic turmoil that arises when an impetuous young poet disrupts the life of a progressive-minded clergyman and his charismatic wife. Candida married to Reverend James Morell returns home from London accompanied by Eugene Marchbanks a young poet who seeks to rescue her from what he perceives as a dull family life. Marchbanks in love with Candida believes she deserves more than the complacency offered by her husband and finds it improper for her to attend to mundane household chores. While Morell thinks he provides care and protection for Candida the reality is quite different.
