Capillary flow reactor for dye-assisted solar photochemical reactions

About The Book

The crusade to decrease the use of expensive facilities and time-consuming reactions have been required by the prerequisite for speedy simple operational capacities in environmental study and medical diagnostics. While initial studies were directed at analytical claims it has since been practical to synthetic chemistry in the system of the microreactor. The most exciting feature of the microreactor is the huge surface to volume ratio due to miniaturization. A capillary flow reactor was fabricated and tested on few organic reactions using dye as catalyst (metal-free) under sunlight irradiation. Organic dyes are cheap non-polluting environmentally friendly and can be modified easily unlike metal photoredox catalysts. In this study we carried out three different reactions: Dehydrogenative coupling reaction Photoacylation reaction and finally cyanation reactions. We achieved a moderate to good yield with 43% 64% and 80% for dehydrogenative coupling photoacylation and cyanation reaction respectively.
