Cardiothyreosis

Thyrotoxicosis is the clinico-biological syndrome that reflects the increase in plasma levels of free thyroid hormones and their effects on the different systems (cardiovascular digestive neuromuscular etc...). In this context cardiovascular damage known as cardiothyreosis is the consequence of the cellular effects of free thyroid hormones on the vascular wall and the myocardium. Its prevalence is 6.5%. This complication makes hyperthyroidism all the more serious and potentially life-threatening for the patient.A better understanding of the clinical para-clinical and therapeutic characteristics of cardiothyroidism is therefore essential in order to optimise the management and improve the prognosis of patients with hyperthyroidism.
