James S. (“Jim”) Munn wrote Case for the Conservative in 1962 at the age of 39. Jim served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a B-17 pilot during WWII, flying bombing missions with the 8th Air Force over Germany. He was shot down in 1944 and remained a German P.O.W. for eighteen months. He continued his military service in Korea as an intelligence officer until 1953. Jim would retire from the Air Force in 1973 as a Lt. Colonel, having earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
