Cash transfer programmes and combating poverty in Brazil

When thinking of the State as a provider of social policies one must consider its dynamics with families and the market given that its activity varies according to the activity of the others. This study sought to identify the mechanisms of income transfer in Brazil and the dynamics between social protection and poverty reduction since strengthening social protection in Brazil points to the breaking down of historical barriers such as patrimonial and clientelistic welfare giving way to the guarantee of citizenship rights.
