Irish writing was redefined during the 20th centurys Irish Literary Revival which was led by William Butler Yeats (1865–1939). He got honorary degrees from Queens University (Belfast) Trinity College (Dublin) the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge as well as the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923.
