The Caucasian region is no doubt one of the most beautiful places in the world. However most of this region was essentially closed to foreigners for more than 70 years that followed the Russian revolution of 1917. Consequently very few Caucasian plants entered world horticulture during this period. Today three independent nations Armenia Azerbaijan and Georgia are starting to open up to international research. Now it is possible for botanists and amateurs from all over the world to arrange field trip and to observe wonderful Caucasian plants in nature.
