In Ethiopia the main path to alleviate poverty attain food security and bring about the transformation of the entire economy is lies in the increased productivity of the agricultural sector; particularly that of cereal productivity. Towards this end the study examined cereal productivity growth in Adama Woreda of the Oromia Region. The study aims to identify the inputs’ consumption of peasant farmers distinguish major factors that account for low productivity explore market aspects and profitability of cereal production compared to alternative land use and try to differentiate the gaps that exist between the sampled peasant and model farmers of the selected areas. Data on household characteristics resource base input consumption market access and profitability were collected from 212 households selected from peasant farmers and model farmers conducting surveys using structured questionnaires.
