This work ''Challenges of Teaching Islamic Studies in Higher Institution and Solutions: An Effective Way of Improving the Quality of Teaching and Learning in Post-Secondary Schools in Nigeria'' is qualitative in nature. The paper highlighted some of the challenges facing the teaching and learning Islamic Studies in higher institutions in Nigeria bedeviling the entire system it also discusses some of the way out to such problems and how they will improve it is effectiveness. The objective of the study is to critically analyse the teaching methods and techniques that were mainly been used in teaching Islamic Studies and their effectiveness in enhancing the teaching and learning process of the system. The paper is purely qualitative in nature it employs a content or library based-research approach via review of conceptual and empirical evidences of the articles in journals that are related to the study. The study highlights the methodology techniques and approach as major tools for the improvement of the system. The paper proffer some recommendations that if considered will assist in combating the challenges and improve the efficiency of the teaching and learning Islamic Studies.
