Changes in vegetation cover and habitat deterioration

About The Book

The White-throated Babbler (Kupeornis gilberti) is classified as one of the world's least studied endangered avian species. It is endemic to the Bakossi National Park (PNB) where it faces threats such as agriculture and habitat degradation. The lack of information on this species drew our attention to the rate of change of its habitat as well as the factors influencing its probability of occurrence due to these threats. The growth of plantations and deforestation are causing the conversion of forest cover to agriculture and the loss of wildlife habitat. To mitigate the threats responsible for the loss of White-throated Babbler habitat we propose: delimitation of the GNP intensification of patrols and encouragement of perennial agriculture.
