Changes in workforce participation among elderly in India

Declining fertility and mortality rates in recent years has changed the age structure of population in India leading to an increasing proportion of aged in the total population. Given the inadequate social security system prevailing in India and changing family structure the work participation of the elderly has gained importance among the researchers. This book examines recent changes in workforce participation rates among the aged populations in India using unit level data on ‘Employment and Unemployment’ from National Sample Survey Organization.
