Characterization of Different Sweet Blue Lupin (Lupinus angustifolius)
English

About The Book

White lupin (local) is a traditional crop mainly in North-Western part of Ethiopia which is grown at 1500-3000 m a.s.l by smallholder farmers. It is a very important traditional multipurpose crop and is grown in mixed crop-livestock farming systems. However the use of the crop as human food and as livestock feed is limited due to its bitter taste attributed to its relatively high alkaloid content (1.43%). Hence it is necessary to characterize and adapt different sweet lupine varieties in different agro-ecologies of the country.
