Characterization of the herbaceous stratum of riparian vegetation

Riparian vegetation corresponds to a narrow strip of vegetation located adjacent to the banks of streams rivers lakes reservoirs and flood plains. They have great ecological and environmental value because they function as complex sustaining sources of biodiversity providing stability to ecosystems. Maintaining the health of riparian ecosystems allows preserving the services they provide and the biodiversity. Knowing the changes in the structure and functioning of these areas over time and being able to quantify eventual changes would contribute to the establishment of priorities for their conservation and the design of ecologically and economically sustainable management techniques.
