شارع سالم هو وطن. مسلوب مستعاد، فمسلوب ممّن ناضلوا للحصول عليه. في الحقيقة، هو ليس وطنًا بعد. هو حلم مثل جميع أوطاننا. فيه أبطال منسيّون، وجنود مجهولون. فيه مشاغبون ومتحدّو سلطة، وفيه خانعون. فيه الكثير من المقاولين، وبعض القصور التي يعيش أصحابها عنهم وعن الآخرين. وفيه صبيّة لا تملك سلاحًا غير قلمها... وعيني مقاتلة من البشمركة. عينان حالمتان، متوثّبتان، رأتا أكثر من المسموح، تعلوان فمًا رفض أن يكمّ. في شارع سالم أيضًا جلّادون ضحايا ومساكين يذهبون كبش فداء وثوّار محبطون، ورسائل تهديد تصادر حياة كلّ من يحلم بتغيير الواقع، والسير خطوةً نحو الوطن-الحلم.هذه الرواية شهادة حيّة يبوح فيها كرديّ، بالعربية، بوجعه من الوطن... وعليه.Salem Street is a homeland; a homeland that has been stolen reclaimed and stolen once again from those who fought for it. Those eyes brimming with determination are ever watchful having seen more than allowed provoking a mouth that refuses to stay silent.In Salem Street you'll find executioners and victims oppressed individuals who are sacrificed and frustrated revolutionaries. Threatening messages loom ready to extinguish the lives of those who dare to dream of changing the reality and taking a step toward the dream homeland. This novel serves as a living testimony where a Kurd articulates in Arabic the anguish his homeland caused him and the pain he endures watching it suffer.
