About The Book

The monograph is devoted to the main provisions of the concept of problem-based learning and its application in teaching chemistry. Problem-based learning is teaching in which the teacher not only gives theoretical knowledge of the subject but also works on the formation of thinking abilities. Real-life situations as a rule differ from educational tasks and require from a person the ability to find a solution independently to choose the best way for it. Often there is a contradiction between the learned knowledge and skills on the one hand and the student's readiness to apply them in practice to solve educational and practical problems on the other hand. Problem-based learning is aimed at overcoming this contradiction. In the monograph on specific examples of conducting chemistry lessons on various topics the essence of problem-based learning ways of creating a problem situation in a chemistry lesson are disclosed. The problem situation causes students to strive for independent search for its solution on the basis of already acquired knowledge. The monograph is intended for students of pedagogical directions and can also be used by teachers of secondary schools.
