Chemopreventive effect of propolis types on carcinogenesis

About The Book

This book was developed from research conducted to show the chemopreventive potential of the extract of propolis varieties produced by Apis mellifera bees on the process of experimental oral carcinogenesis to promote the delay or inhibition of dysplastic phenotype formation in the epithelial stratum. Several difficulties are encountered in the treatment of oral cancer because it causes disabilities to the patient impairing his family social and professional reintegration. Thus new therapeutic alternatives with the use of natural products or their compositions have been carried out through experimental models of mouth cancer as it was developed in this research. Thus the present study of experimental oral carcinogenesis using DMBA proved to be effective in promoting carcinogenesis by inducing dysplastic changes in the oral mucosa. However given the scarcity of research on natural products it is also suggested that green propolis plays a protective role during the process of chemically induced carcinogenesis and that this was directly related to the increased concentration of hydroalcoholic extracts administered by gavage.
