Chen Hengzhe

This book investigates the life activities and writings of Chen Hengzhe (1890–1976) in order to understand the effects of the exposure to a foreign culture on a person's thinking writing and sense of self. In the case of Hengzhe China's first female professor the blending of foreign and native influences on her life yields a mix that does not fit with any overarching 'isms' or theories.<br/>
