About The Book

The topicality of the subject inspired this work as the phenomenon of child domestic workers is so present in the lives of the people of Bamako. Following the survey the lack of respect for children''s rights was observed in the domestic work sector. National and international legal instruments for the protection of children exist to which Mali has promptly subscribed. When asked why this denial of rights still exists we were able to determine that the causes are economic demographic educational and cultural. The work has thus made it possible to study the situation of child domestic workers in Bamako by analyzing the relationships as well as the living and working conditions of the employers. On the whole they are bad: very often excessive working hours (up to 14 to 15 hours per day) often poor nutrition infringement of the moral personality of the children illegal and precarious status of the work contract other types of abuse etc.). Finally the work concludes with recommendations that can help curb the phenomenon starting with the most intolerable forms.
