Child labour as a social problem has become an important component of welfare consciousnessamong the public social organizations and the state. The problem of child labour is mankind’sbelated recognition that children are important and that care for each stage of a child’s growth isimperative if a nation is to prosper. In the present study an attempt has been made to find out thesocio-economic factors which play a significant role in pushing children into the labour force andthe repercussions of early employment. The study discloses that poverty indebtedness socialcustoms and attitude of parents to education are the main reasons which force children to work aslabourers.
