China-Pakistan Maritime Cooperation: A Case Study of Gwadar

For thousands of years people have been living around the Indian Ocean and taking benefits from its natural resources and the rich opportunities for trade interaction resulted in maritime exploits of a cultural and religious nature or of domination and slavery that invariably influenced lives fundamentally. The role of European Navies have remained quite significant in maintaining dominancy at the sea during the 19th century and it also helped in sabotaging the element of pirates as well. The ‘Indian Ocean’ holds the importance of being the venue of great politico-economic activities and maritime competition.
