Chinar Tales

Chinar Tales is a compilation of six short stories from the Kashmir Valley in north India. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayan range the Valley has a blend of a unique and interesting cultural ethos. The Kashmiris are known for their God-fearing nature and simplicity. Above all they are proud of their rich heritage and identity. These stories give a glimpse of their lives - their aspirations and dreams fears and follies. The intricate fabric of relationships is woven in a manner to bring out the delicate nuances that bind them. The building up of the characters the attention to detail and development of each story is interesting. Like the mighty Chinar leaves that reveal a new colour every season each story is presented in a different colour a new aspect of the myriad lives in a writing style that is simple and engaging.
