Chronic hepatitis B infection HBe antigen negative

About The Book

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a dynamic process reflecting the interactions between HBV and the host immune response. HBV-infected patients do not necessarily develop chronic hepatitis B. Chronic HBe antigen-negative infection formerly known as chronic inactive carriage is one of the five phases in the natural history of hepatitis B. Inactive carriers are patients with quiescent disease who generally do not develop complications. Certain factors are predictive of HBsAg loss during follow-up. However viral reactivation (VR) may occur spontaneously or under immunosuppressive therapy.
