About The Book

The work is an examination of reasons for the adoption of a type of church government. There are divergent opinions on church government in the Anglican and Methodist Churches. At the 1999 Methodist Church Conference at which there was a resolution to adopt the episcopal system of church government claims were made for reasons the adoptions of the Episcopal system of church government. Recent discussions seem to suggest that some people in the Methodist Church Ghana prefer the federal system of church government. It is obvious that the Methodist Church Ghana is not certain of the system of church government to practice. The work examines reasons given for the adoption of episcopacy. A survey of the New Testament and Church History is made for evidence on the nature of church government and its development.
