About The Book

When one is a member of a culture a believer and a citizen one has different attitudes towards divorce. Indeed the culture says nothing about it the Church forbids it and the State allows it. This book analyzes the positions of these three authorities which however collaborate at the time of the marriage but adopt divergent positions at the time of the divorce which results from it. This research carried out within the framework of a scientific study in Lubumbashi in the South-East of the Democratic Republic of Congo shows that there are logics and strategies adopted by the religious actors (Pastors and Priests) in order not to authorize the members of their churches to divorce. For the Christian religious milieu divorce is forbidden and unacceptable. In spite of this there are several cases of divorce among the members of the Christian churches in Lusaka.
