Civil democracy

Contemporary political institutions rest on dividing society into groups. Once upon a time this was the structure of European societies. It is gone however through individualisation and globalisation and elsewhere it did never exist. But group-based institutions rule the world. The resulting conflict between group-based institutions and individualistically structured societies is the big issue of our time. All major current problems result from this tension: climate destruction populism and civil war show the need to rethink democracy.
