Cloning

Cloning is an important part of the Biotechnology. Cloning in biotechnology refers to processes used to create copies of DNAfragments (molecular cloning) cells (cell cloning) or organisms. There are three types of cloning viz.gene cloning which creates copies of genes or segments of DNA reproductive cloning which creates copies of whole animals and therapeutic cloning which creates embryonic stem cells. All types of thesecloning methods are used in biotechnology for development of diagnostics therapeutic productsdevelopment of new organisms or plants and using stem cells to treat a condition. The book has been written with more emphasis on gene cloning techniques with its methodsand uses. The main intention of the author is bring to the attention of biotechnology students the recent developments in cloning technology.
