Coffee's effect on viral liver disease

About The Book

Coffee is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world and its beneficial effects have been the subject of study for years. As an antioxidant drink it can inhibit liver enzymes reducing hepatocyte damage and may be directly linked to a decrease in APRI and FIB4 values in cirrhotic patients with chronic hepatitis C. This improvement in the liver is directly related to coffee intake. With this in mind this study looked at coffee intake in different groups with viral hepatopathies and the findings showed that increasing coffee consumption can improve the liver profile of these patients.
