With increased age female gender lower education level living in suburban areas hypertension LDL-C having no spouse low income limited activities of daily living (ADL) lower social engagement were the significant risks of cognitive impairment among elderly. Elderly with collegiate education and employed elderly had lower risk for cognitive dysfunction. Severe depression loneliness and social isolation in elderly proved to be risks for cognitive dysfunction. Regular exercise active life non-drinking status and active social engagements reduced the risk of cognitive impairment. Practising Yoga and reminiscence therapy were found to be effective in improving the cognitive functions among elderly.
