A man who is willing to give all his service all his wealth and all his attention to be married to that woman. And then to find that woman who feels the same way about him. Then she was murdered. She was dead two hours before he returned from town having successfully negotiated rights for the Navajos. He should have listened to her when she pleaded for him to stay home. If there was anyone in the world who did not deserve to be shot in the back it was Alameda. This was the worst thing that could have happened to Emmett. But now he would find out who killed her. He has some candidates for who might have done this.
