Despite the administrative division Haut-Lomami is a mono-ethnic province with pockets of Zela in Malemba-Nkulu Sanga in Bukama Songe in Kabongo and Cokwe and Songe in Kaniama. What's more the Luba people generally share the same language and the same history but not in particular the same culture. All these linguistic elements should cement the cohesion of the Luba space and constitute a more powerful people and develop this province.In spite of this Haut-Lomami has become the scene of recurring conflicts between the leaders of the institutions.
