Coming Home

When tragedy struck our family we were forced into an unknown territory. It was a journey few had walked and for those who had it was a long lonely painful path. Hope had us believing if we did everything possible things would get better. As we trudged through the darkness flickers of light would emerge inspiring us to keep going.At every turn a mountain appeared requiring greater strength and resolve to climb. Having a determined unwavering mother who wouldnt give up we overcame obstacles and defied odds. Upon finding faith new doors opened. I started to walk on two roads. One full of adventure excitement and great opportunity. The other requiring endurance patience and faith as we constantly took one step forward and two steps back.Amazing people full of compassion empathy kindness and care crossed both paths lifting our hands and our spirits. Others would strip away any form of hope with their words and actions pushing us to fight for justice and fundamental rights.Both roads required sacrifice courage determination and love. They were not for the fainthearted.My two roads formed into one as history repeated itself. Ageing parents who had fought a battle twenty-three years earlier were facing it again. I sacrificed all that I had to take up the baton they had carried for many years. With the backing of a community organization I advocated with other families until we found a solution. My story will make you laugh it will make you cry but it will also inspire you to trust God take risks and never give up.
