About The Book

This study was mainly aimed to detect the presence of chitinase producing bacteria in marine waste such as Crabs Brachyura. The characterization of bacterial isolates was done by biochemical methods and molecular identification. In morphological characterization of bacterial isolates gram staining and motility tests were performed. Further identification was done by biochemical methods. For the identification of selected bacterial isolates by 16s r RNA partial sequencing the DNA was isolated by conventional method. This was followed by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to amplify the DNA. Further size separation was done by Agarose gel Electrophoresis. Molecular identification of bacterial isolates by 16S r RNA sequence. DNA isolated from the pure cultures was amplified. The amplified 16S rRNA PCR product were sequenced. The sequence similarity search for the 16S rRNA sequence was done through BLAST. The organisms were identified as Bacillus albus and Bacillus cereus.
