Common Aquaculture Diseases and their Treatments

Aquaculture sector in Pakistan is growing steadily and focused mainly on traditional semi-intensive/extensive carp fish farming system with less stocking densities limited or no use of feed and without aeration. For development of this potential sector on modern lines recently new culture-able species i.e. Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia Snakeheads Clarius Pangasius and Sea bass etc. along with crustacean species of shrimps/prawns have been introduced for diversification. Modern Aquaculture intensive technologies such as In Pond Race way System Cage culture Aquaponics and Bioflocs etc. are getting popular in Pakistan. Aqua feed industry is also growing rapidly to cater the commercial feed demands of fish and shrimp farmers. Balanced feed together with mechanized aeration enhanced overall productivity of aquaculture enterprises. These factors have highlighted the importance of basic knowledge of common fish diseases and their control. Present book aims to give an insight of common prevailing and emerging Fisheries&Aquaculture diseases treatments and control measures; hence will serve as practical field guide for fish farmers and researchers.
