Communicating Vietnamerican

Professor Le Thi Khanh Lam Professor Tran Thi Tho and Professor Jim Schnell all from Duy Tan University (Danang Vietnam) describe the evolving relationship between Vietnam and the United States via analysis of interpersonal communication dynamics that exist within each culture. The Vietnamese keen emphasis on human relationships in their lives results in a unique emphasis on human communication processes that contrast with corresponding practices in the U.S. The cross-cultural analysis offered in this book exemplifies that. It is not to say that one culture engages in communicative norms that are superior to the other but it is to say that the Vietnamese and American human communication practices do differ in some respects and these differences reflect significant cultural differences. Each perspective has much to teach and much to learn.
