Caring for the family member of a person in a critical situation requires nurses to have communication as a core competence. In critical situations in order to promote quality care for the family member communication becomes essential as it promotes interaction allowing the person to develop autonomy and greater confidence reducing the level of anxiety and increasing their adherence to the new reality experienced. In this sense a theoretical/practical educational program using simulation in communication with the relative of the person in critical condition allows students/nurses to improve cognitive psychomotor and socio-affective skills minimizing the occurrence of errors increasing their confidence and providing them with communication skills. Our aim was therefore to design a communication education program for nurses to train communication skills with relatives of people in critical situations in a simulation context. This is a mixed program designed in 3 modules: theoretical practical simulation and reflective with learning content teaching methodologies and evaluation.
