Fever has been recognized as an important sign of many diseases. It remained a mystery for physicians for centuries. Pharmacotherapy of fever also extends deep into history. Following the advent of aspirin in 1899 numerous other antipyretics were developed and used widely to suppress fever. These drugs relieve fever but associated with side effects. Therefore search for safe plant origin antipyretic remedies has received momentum. In Unani medicine a number of single and compound drugs are used in the management of fever. Ghaafis is one of such drugs but scientific data are not available on its antipyretic effect. Therefore this drug has been selected for the present study.
