This master thesis is a product of author's interest in railway superstructures due to a great professorial influence during her Civil Engineering Master Studies.Prof. Dr.tech. Klaus Riessberger served as a great mentor in the writing of this work and was appreciated greatly. Authors wish was to explain ballasted and ballastless railway systems and make them more understandable to whomever that has interest in this area as well as to sum up the advantages and disadvantages of both systems in hope of it being helpful to her colleagues in the choice of the railway system.
