The success of any agricultural enterprise is closely linked to the producer''s firm decision to replace the traditional practices that have been used for decades and that generate mediocre profitability with actions based on the latest advances in technology in terms of integrated management of livestock production. The native trees and shrubs that exist in Guatemala are an important source for livestock management especially in tropical and subtropical regions that have prolonged dry periods. Some of these trees after pruning show rapid growth rates abundant foliage and good nutritional quality for use during dry periods.
