Beyond foreign translations (full or abridged) approximately 72 domestic versions survive broadly categorized into one ancestral origin and three lineages: the ancestral editions (Jinling and Sheyuantang) along with the Jiangxi Qian and Zhang lineage editions.</p><p></p><p>??(????????)????????(1593?)????????????????????????????????????????????????????????1590?????????????????? ???????????1593??????????76?????????????1596??</p><p></p><p>The ancestral ?Jinling edition? (or ?Sheyuantang edition?) carved by Hu Chenglong in 1593 during the Ming Wanli era is the earliest surviving version. As the original text personally revised by Li Shizhen's family it became the foundational source for later editions and is exceptionally rare. In 1590 Hu Chenglong a Nanjing bibliophile and publisher pledged to print the Compendium. Li Shizhen died in 1593 at age 76 and the carving was completed in 1596.</p><p></p><p>????</p><p></p><p>Author Introduction</p><p></p><p>???????????1958?2??????????????????????????????????????????</p><p></p><p>Professor Cao Hongxin (born February 1958) of Han ethnicity holds a Doctor of Medicine degree. He serves as Chief Researcher and PhD Supervisor at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences where he previously held the position of President.</p><p></p><p>??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????</p><p></p><p>Currently he is Director-General of the Science and Technology Department under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. His concurrent roles include Vice President of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine Vice President of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine Vice Chairman of the China Health Care Association Special Researcher at the State Council Counsellor's Office and President of the TCM Committee under the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Conservation Association. Recognized as a Heilongjiang Provincial Eminent TCM Physician he is the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project TCM Cognition Methods of Life and Disease. He has been honored as a National Ministry of Health and Heilongjiang Provincial Outstanding Mid-Career Expert and is a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance.</p>
