Competitive Sports Practice and School Performance

The subject of this book is particularly useful for those who want to understand the importance of competitive sport and the school performance of young Brazilians. Supported by real facts the author confirmed the existence of a positive relationship between sports competition and the organisation of personal commitments responsibility and discipline relationships with classmates and teachers and motivation and commitment to carrying out school tasks. On the other hand it was also possible to observe that the academic performance in two core subjects of students involved in sports competitions equalled or surpassed the results obtained by students without this competitive practice. The context in which this study was carried out highlighted the importance of family support and school organisation in terms of compatibility between school activities training schedules and competitions.
