Concerto for Viola and Orchestra Op. 109 by Guillermo Uribe Holgun

About The Book

The following document is focused on presenting the concerto for viola and orchestra Op. 109 by the Colombian composer Guillermo Uribe Holguín through a new edition of the score as well as an analysis from different perspectives such as relevant historical aspects of the composer the period and the description of some technical elements of the piece: articulations fingerings and bows necessary to obtain a better interpretative execution which contributes to the violist''s repertoire and makes known the legacy of our composers. In the course of the research I have also found it important to refer to the viola school that has been developing in Colombia since the arrival in the country of the violist Gerhard Rothstein (1910-1978) who taught violin and viola to several generations for more than forty years as well as awakening interest in other Latin American musicians in our composers who are little performed giving the concerto a place in the violist''s repertoire.
