CONFLICT RESOLUTION AS A PATH TO PROGRESS

A glass containing a certain quantity of water can be observed from many angles. Everyone could make a judgement on this phenomenon according to their own vision and understanding of things. We have chosen to look at it differently and this vision is relative. Inspired by Julien Freund's work on the sociology of conflict we have tried to look at conflict differently not as a destructive phenomenon but as a source of individual or societal progress. Indeed this book opens with a demonstration of the inherence of conflict in society and by extension in man as a unit of society. Next we look at some aspects of life in society that could be sources of conflict according to the criteria for classifying types of conflict. Finally we propose some tools for resolving conflict in society and the consequences that may ensue.
